- Lydia Canaan is a Lebanese singer/songwriter, poet, a supporter of humanitarian and social causes and animal welfare. - The Arab media hailed Lydia as the "First Rock Star of the Middle East". After a successful career in Lebanon, Lydia worked with famous writers, musicians and producers in Switzerland, UK and USA. - Lydia's international release from London/UK of the song "Beautiful Life" gained her critical acclaim from the British and American music press, comparing her with Cher, Tina Turner and Celine Dion. - "Beautiful Life" was chosen by Nelson Mandela as the theme song for a charity event under his auspices in South Africa. - Lydia is the first artist from the Middle East to have her video clips (filmed in London/UK) on MTV Europe, MTV Asia, MTV Arabia and MTV Russia. MTV Europe called her “The Diva of the Middle East”. - As an artist with a purpose, Lydia is a devoted and passionate advocate of humanitarian and social causes. She was awarded for her humanitarian contributions by Mr. Ives de San, head of UNDP/Lebanon. - Lydia's song "Libnan" was the title song of the advertisement "Rediscover Lebanon" produced and broadcast by the US cable network CNN to over one billion viewers in 2004, commissioned by the Lebanese Government, to promote Lebanon as a tourist destination. - Invited by the United Nations Human Rights Council, Lydia gave a speech at the 25th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva/Switzerland on March 17, 2014.
