About Band
MENDES born in Catania in 1992 by the artistic meeting of Francesco Cucinotta and Danilo Riolo. The band played a noisy and brutal death/black metal. After some year Francesco and Danilo decide to recorded the single tape "erzbeth", a song inspired by the classical black metal bands from '80 as Venom, Bathory and Celtic Frost. After that experience the guys decided to change radically the music and the attitude of the band. In summer 1996 the musician factotum Salvatore La Rosa enter on MENDES project and the trio improvvised in studio the official demo "Faraway". For the first time the band explore soft and ambient acoustic mood with a dark and decadent approach. The new MENDES so realise their ideal stylistic dimension. Improvvisation, experiments solutions and "lo-fi" attitude are the definitive lines of the project MENDES. After one year Danilo split the band and MENDES continued as a duo. The Autoproduction style and the total musical freedom bring Francesco and Salvatore to realised others album "made at home". "Clips" ( 1997, a "lo-fi" tape album with the last performances of Danilo Riolo ), "Maladolescenza" ( 2001, under italian electro-dark rock influences ), "Black Album" ( 2004, the perfect orchestral sequel of "Maladolescenza"'s dark inspiration ), "Urklang" ( 2004, a music study about the primordial origines of the sound ), "L'Ultimo Libero" ( 2 Cd 2004, electronic pop rock delicatessen and easy experiments ), "The Dark Signs of the Doom" ( 2005, electro doom experience ), "Switchig Off" ( 2005, raw dark industrial ), "God Love Broken Heart" ( riflessive ambient dark music ) and "Hoc, Est Philosophiae Culmen: Simplicem Cum Prudentia" ( 2 Cd 2007, long experimental electronic cameras ). In 2005 Francesco and Salvatore formed the project The LITTLES, where irony and easy listenig meet electronic lo-fy filosofy.
