About Artist
It's very simple: I want to serve the Lord with my vocals. As you may notice on the genres, I did not include R&B, pop, soul, rock, and rap/hip-hop because I was only limited to three. In any case, here I am!
I am 25 years old, born in the Dominican Republic. After moving to Boston, Massachusetts at age 9, I began a passion for listening to music--contemporary and cultural. After declaring Jesus as my savior at age 12, I developed an interest in singing. Before I knew it, I would find myself singing in church through my youth group. Once I left for college in 1999, I held a reputation for the "Spanish version of R. Kelly," my friends would say. At the same time, I began songwriting as well. As long as I could remember, I always believed that God had a place for me in music. Now, I am seeking the opportunity to make music that matters...music with a message.
My major element is crossing over genres and languages, considering that I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I believe my style is a mesh of Mat Kearney, Juan Luis Guerra, NeYo, Donell Jones, Shawn McDonald, and Jon Secada. The hip-hop is still a development, but I'm currently trying to develop my own identity as a rapper. My influences are, however, Phil Collins, Sting, Luther Vandross, Juan Luis Guerra, Marcos Witt, Huey Lewis, Sergio Vargas, Marvin Gaye, 4Him, Newsboys, Michael W. Smith, Fred Hammond, hip-hop phenom KJ-52, and legendary trio Phillips, Craig and Dean (PCD).
My future is filled with great confidence and anticipation for success. However, I never forget what it took to even envision such. You see, when I left for college the first time, I was very distracted and got caught up in the crazy lifestyle. Drugs, sex, rebellion, was a sad norm for the following three years. I found my turning point when I returned to the Dominican Republic after 10 years since I left the homeland. Facing myself isolated from reality and the people I loved, I reconciled with God and made a critical decision: to join the Army. Immediately after returning, I decided to join only a few days before Christmas of 2002, despite the fact that the war on terrorism had begun.
Three years on active duty later (2 in Fort Riley, Kansas and one in Iraq), I completed an entire 180 on my life. Since I got out, I became a part of the National Guard AND the Army Civilian Corps. Now, I am happily married and a father of three children. My desire to sing songs became stronger and more tangible than ever. Instead of creating music solely intended for worship, my mission expanded to creating songs that people would relate to. These would be songs telling my story and the stories of others whose lives I either witnessed or became a part of, translating them with a key message: no matter where you go in life or what happens, God is ready, waiting, and able to bring you to your promised land. He is a God who keeps his promises, who is always on time, and I am a living testimony of the fact.
Today, I've been in the process of creating demos to make available to the public. As my time opens up, I look forward to performing on stage across different venues here in the Midwest. Make no mistake, people! I will not compromise my family over money or my values over a facetious image. So far, I've been able to perform at my church with a rendition of PCD's "You Are God Alone" midway through this year.
With that said, I hope you have a real outlook of who I am and what I bring to the forefront. I look forward to contacting anyone interested in giving me the opportunity to make this dream...this goal into a reality. There's not much more than I can say, except: I am ready! Godspeed!
