About Artist
My name is Mike Franks....no....not the jazz singer. I am from Nashville, TN. I started out playing in Fairmont, West Virginia in a punk band called Don't Forget (yeah, I know) in 1986 for the simple reason that nobody else wanted to play guitar. Well, that started a relationship that still burns as brightly today as it did back in 86'. The two guitar lessons I attended were taught by a feminine, permed mullet wearing dork. So, what I know, I figured out by trial and error.
After moving to Nashville, I eventually got together with a few friends and during a couple smoke sessions, we recorded some acoustic music on a 4 track which turned out to be pretty good and....friggin hilarious. Seeing as we had that much fun together, we decided to form a band in hopes of having more fun. The year was 1990, I believe, and the band.......Slavejacket. When having sex with one person and fantasizing about another, you are said to be wearing a Slavejacket, so said our lead singer and guitarist, Jerry (Bubba) Campbell. Mike(Chike)Page was on drums and Brandon(Dong K. Beans)Frazer on bass. Sam Mitchell soon joined the band on bass after Brandon left amicably. We recorded a couple of demos and went on to become fairly popular in the Nashville underground scene, opening for such acts as My Dad Is Dead, The Cows, Confessor, Corrosion of Conformity, and Helmet. The band fizzled out and Jerry went on to form Spider Virus. Chike, Sam and I, along with Travis Keese went on to form the band Floor. We also recorded a demo and ended up playing for a few years before once again, fizzling out. Since then, I have pretty much been playing on my own and recording stuff on to 4 track and the computer. I am now looking for like minded individuals to play with or to go on and start something of my own.
