About Artist

Ms. AJ born as April Jones in Birmingham, AL was given a talent a musical talent that is undeniable. Ms. AJ began singing at the age of six in church and other community gospel events. As time progressed she began singing in local talent shows, youth fairs, chorus competitions and stage plays was Ms. AJ’s past time. In the year 2000 she moved to Atlanta, GA. While living in the great city referred to as “HotAtlanta” she began lending her voice to local Atlanta artists such as Xavier Lewis, JamPoet, and her home church New Covenant Christian Ministries where she serves on the praise team and in the choir. She has been a featured artist at events such as JamSession Nights in Chattanooga, TN, Gospel According to Jazz, Chattanooga Soul, The Mighty Experience at Apache Café, Jalik’s Sumthing Spectacluar at Kats Café, PlatinumSoul by, main stage at Bronner Brothers Hair show main stage in August 2010, the VIP Suites in August 2010, February 2011, and February 2012. Currently Ms. AJ sings background for Xavier Lewis “The Antidote to R&B”, Hudson on Bass, Mark Free formerly of the group Hamilton Park, and lends her voice to projects with Hip Hop group The Produx and band mates of Crushed Ice. Furthermore, Ms. AJ has displayed her writing and singing talents on the R&B album of Londee Thomas. Not to mention she has hosted and opened concerts for national recording artists January of 2012 Eric Roberson and in February 2012 Lalah Hathaway both in Chattanooga, TN. She desires to have a great presence in the Neo-soul and R&B genre. Her first single “Brand New Lady “ was released in the Spring of 2010. In June of 2010 her debut single “Brand New Lady” was ranked number 25 in the Andre Harrell’s Next R&B Superstar regional competition. Ms. AJ’s first three singles of her debut album Brand New Lady is featured on Itunes. The project “Brand New Lady” has been revamped and will be re-released in April 2014. The central theme of her music is consistent with the artistic works of Layla Hathaway and Jill Scott. Her musical influences are Frankie Beverly and Maze, Kim Burrell, India Aire, GQ, and Phyllis Hyman. Ms. AJ’s values shine through her music in words of encouragement, empowerment, and love.
