About Band
The Past
Murakami was conceptualized among brothers Eric and Alec Slyter and their close friend, Buddy Maixner, in May of 2008. With the inclusion of third Slyter brother, Adam, seven songs were written and a five-track EP was recorded and released independently on August 25, 2008 called, "The Oolong ep". The music is now currently featured on Murakami's page here.
The Present
In the fall and spring of 2008-2009, Murakami is on a temporary break since Buddy is studying in Japan for a year and the Slyter brothers are in Amsterdam until January 2009. In Amsterdam, the Slyters are writing material for the first full-length recording of Murakami, which they expect to be completed by September 2009.
The Future
The new album will introduce the new sound of Murakami. It will be bigger, with more electric guitars, and ambiance. Recording will begin at the start of 2009. It's expected the new album will feature two new members, taking on a permanent drummer and new bassist. Live shows will start in the summer of 2009.
