About Band
My Red Angel are a three piece rock influenced band made up of Adrian Ramsay on Guitar and Vocal, Liz Witkowski on Bass and Forbes Coleman on Drums. They are always being told to turn their sound down, stop hitting that drum so loud... but is that a bad thing?
The story of My Red Angel, as with most bands, is one of evolution. Adrian and Forbes met through a previous band based in Oxford where Forbes was filling in part-time until they found a more permanent drummer. The band was very indie, and left them both frustrated; just wanted to push that third channel and hit that cymbal... In the end, it all came to head when Adrian left the band and Forbes suggested they take that third channel and cymbal and put them to good use.
The hunt for a decent bassist was started that very night. A few good responses, but one stood out. From a person called Liz who actually phoned Forbes one evening, after much prompting from her friends. Liz had been in bands previously, but her current, a comedy cabaret style band playing well-known songs in glittering outfits & wigs may have been entertaining but was not quenching her thirst for playing hard-hitting rock. So My Red Angel was exactly what she was looking for: a serious band that doesn't take themselves too seriously.
One rehearal later, and two songs are born: NME and RAMM Memory, which would later appear on the Fate EP. Earlier songs were heavily influenced my MUSE, but as time goes on...
Adrian's influences include Deftones, Radiohead, Therapy? and Jeff Buckley.
Forbes shifts between Placebo, System of a Down and Aphex Twin.
Liz focuses around Muse, Green Day and Die So Fluid.
All these influences combined mean My Red Angel have all the heaviness of System of a Down and Deftones, but retain the melodic qualities of Muse and Placebo.
The band have three recorded EPs under their belt, all recorded at Skyline Studios in Epsom. The first being a three track EP, "The Anime EP". The second, a six track EP called "FATE", was played on several radio stations and reviewed in Rock Sound. The third and latest EP, simply called "SURPRISE!", focuses on the darker side of people and their emotions, prompted and inspired by today's media. Both "FATE" and "SURPRISE!" are available to buy on iTunes, Napster, TuneTribe.com and at myredangel.com. Also from CDBaby.com for US residents. My Red Angel are currently recording their 4th EP.
My Red Angel have placed in many well-known venues such as The Bull & Gate in Kentish Town, The Purple Turtle in Camden, the Hope and Anchor in Islington, The Shed in Leicester and The Fex in Reading, to name but a few.
So, Adrian's searing vocal lines and combination of heavy riffs and fret-wanking over Liz's sturdy, smooth bass-lines and Forbes' unbelievably loud, ear-piercing drumming make for one hell of live sound not to be missed. So really, you shouldn't be missing it. At all.
