About Band
Nerve Impulse started in the summer of '98, when Dave Wisham and his brother Derek started playing together after buying a guitar and drum set. In the winter of 2000 Dave and Derek, along with former bassist Tom Johnson, went into Higgin's Family Studio to record their debut album. Afterwards they took the tracks to Makoche studio where they were mastered. The album, "Do You Have the Nerve?" came out in the spring of ‘01. At this time the band started playing shows at different venues such as: The Landing, The Burndt Creek Club, The Light Club, AmVets Club, DJ's Pizza and Bar, The Starlight, and also The Silver Dollar...each place wanted them back.
For personal reasons Mr. Johnson left the band in the winter of '02. From that point on Nerve Impulse auditioned various musicians, none worked out. At the same time another local was trying to find a band in the scene. Steven Walker had played drums for a short time in The Cockney Monotones, but didn't fit in with the band (guitar was his real forte). Then in the winter of '03 a chance meeting with the Wisham brothers brought together what was and is Nerve Impulse. Steven came to one of the brother's band practices and after a week of constant practice, the brothers asked Steven to join the band on lead guitar. Steven agreed. After a great year of playing together Steve took a short hiatus from the band for college. At this time Nerve Impulse played a few engagements with a replacement guitarist.
Then the brothers ran into Travis Schell, a beer drinking, rock loving bass player! It took only two months for Nerve Impulse to put together a set list with Dave on guitar and singing lead, Derek on drums and singing, and Travis on bass. Unfortunately, Travis too went away and yet again left the band searching for a new guitar/bass player. Then in July of ‘06 as fate would have it, they found Matt Taylor sitting at a Blackjack table, willing to fill the spot. The new line-up played their first gig a mere 4 weeks after Matt joined! With the band playing shows almost every weekend, the future looked bright for Nerve Impulse, it was about to get even brighter. In January of ’07 Dave got the call he had been hoping for. Steven called and told him his sabbatical was ending! He would be returning to the band on lead guitar. The band once again had all the pieces it had been missing!
Nerve Impulse is now the band that will blow your socks off! Playing great rock that rivals any high profile band. With influences from bands like: Nirvana, lostprophets, Nickelback, Green Day, Saliva, Seether, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson, Crossfade, Blink-182, Papa Roach, and Silverchair among others.
