About Band
Page27 is Mike a singer / songster from Tallaght but brought up in a hundred horse town called ballinasloe. He bounces between Galway & Dublin to avail of the both worlds.
Formed in 2003 Page27 has changed its members a few times. The Band has played venues Like Crawdaddy Dublin, Whelans Dublin & The Village Dublin aswell as supporting many talented Irish Artists.
The Name comes from an idea that when you want to Page someone in a hotel. He thinks Every musician & artist that died at 27 is in a hotel lobby having a drink or two so I'd like to Page them my music as a thank you for their inspiration.....it is also the amount of Piano Concertos Mozart has & the amount of letters in the Hebrew alphabet.
Mike will be going into the studio in May 07 to record his debut ep with the amazing Mike O'Dowd at the controls...some vids to keep you occupied!
Steve Wall from The Walls has described their music as 'Strong & original'. !
Donal Scannell has also showcased this energetic band several times & has been happy to do so. !
They have also worked along side former TV3 presenter of 'Pop on 3' Darragh Purcell to raise money for various charitys. !
One such show had an audience of 200 people. !
They have supported Artists like Colm Quearney(Q), who described Mike Gilchrist guitarist & vocalist of the group as a 'brilliant songwriter'. !
Previous to this band Gilchrist has been featured in Irish Music Magazines Hotpress top 100 songs. He has played acoustic sets with other Lir member Ro Byrne on many occasions. Lisa Hannigan has also enjoyed an acoustic set performed by Gilchrist in a small remote pub in the west of Ireland from where this songwriter originates. The unmistakable Ham Sandwich are also fans of Page27. With a support slot in Kells Co. Meath Page27s 1st Headline show in Crawdaddy Dublin on the 12th of April 2006 to 150 curious & willing people, paid off. !
Songs like 'Cactus Hug' can make you tap your feet to an edgy 4 minute rock song like 'Sahara Won't Do' & 'Pendulum' a simple 2 chord acoustic song that uplifts the listener to a euphoric state, sees the bands ability to change from rock style to acoustic style effortlessly. !
Another treat for youre eager eyes & ears. This 40 minute show will be available to download from this site along side a 10 minute interview, which is a behind the scene look at where this band stands...... With this in mind, to release their debut double sided 7" single, would catapult this Irish Rock Band into the spotlight of Irish Music for good
