About Artist
Richard Aparicio is a Composer, Arranger and Writer heavily influenced and exposed as a kid to live cultural bands. This exposure shaped his style to suit many genres, particularly in Film and Theatre.
Examples of some of the work I do is on this page, some sample tracks are also listed. If you would like to hear the full version please email the address below.
Since the age of 14 Richard has Arranged and Performed with bands as a singer and keyboardist, also performing some of his own material. At the ripe age of 17 his career in Film Scoring began with orchestrations for a short film using primitive MIDI equipment. Since then he has re-arranged the score using much more advanced equipment to give a natural sound to his creations, keeping as close as possible to live sounding performers. His varied experience with orchestral and stage band instrumentalists has widened his perception of the music soundscape and given him a deep understanding of the importance of getting a real and rich sound that can argueably only be created by real players. Though, Richard does understand today's needs to create a marketable sound on a budget with advanced technology and sampling.
As a Performer, Richard has been on the scene for 12 years playing with numerous bands across varied genres. His abilities range from the Traditional Tango with Tango Beat (also known as Tango Del Angel), to a more commercial market with the rock band Suburbanite. He has also directed and arranged for various bands and small orchestra's, notabily Tumbao (also known as Carribe), a 10 piece Latin American band based in Sydney.
As a Composer, Richard has created a few songs; temp tracks for a short film shown at Cannes Film Festival; as well as a short film in Sydney. He is currently working on a few of his own songs; musicals; a score for a short film; a 'music photoalbum' of his life to date; as well as other small projects.
Richard's Arranging experience began at 14 with a Latin/Italian 4 piece band, the Anthony Vadala Orchestra, with Horns on keyboards. His varied life and musical experience gives him insight into how an instrument can sound and feel. He also uses his writing abilities, communicates ideas with instrumentalists directly, and imagines playing each instrument personally to get the right personality from each piece he arranges. The most recent band he arranged for was the 10 piece Latin Band (Tumbao) with a 3 piece Horn Section that he directed and played Piano for in Sydney. Other Genres include Rock, Latin, Italian, traditional Tango, Latin/Jazz, plus others. He has also arranged/composed for Z Studios in Sydney, working together with up and coming musicians.
Richard has been trained as an Audio Engineer by some good experienced Engineers who have known the field well in Sydney. His strength is mixing for live bands and has mixed for bands at venues such as The Basement and The Spanish Club in Sydney, plus many others, the most notable artist being Jewel, and has assisted mixing for performances by James Morrison and Tim Freedman.
Richard's current focus is writing for Film and Theatre and also working as a session keyboard player.
