About Artist
Rook Roca killed it tonight on the second audition for NBC's "The Voice" second season! They were standing up, calling other judges from other rooms into their performance to watch. They couldn't even speak when they heard the rap verse come on. She performed "I love rock & roll" remixed to a rap style. Then she performed " we found love" by Rihanna. They were up and out of their seats. Waiting on the callback!
In a male-dominated music industry is difficult for even some of the best rappers to achieve and maintain a relevant position in the hip-hop game. There are many attributes of an artist that must be up to the “cultural” par to gain the respect of not only the listener and industry, but of the competition as well.
It’s a genre that looks for the baddest, the illest, the most gutter. But it’s all too often that the least threatening artist, the underdog, is the one to takeover the game when the industry least expects it.
The Rook.
The underdog in the game of chess by strategy, the Rook is the only piece in the board that
can castle the king.
Enter ROOK ROCA. Performing since the age of 14, this white female rapper from Toledo,Ohio was breaking the cultural stereotypes for her artistry before it became acceptable.
Educated at Adrian University, Rook focused her passion on writing and performing while earning a BA in Business and Marketing. She won Best New Artist at the Ohio Hip Hop Awards 2011 and won Best Rapper on “Put Me On Live” Showcase City tour, Toledo, OH 2011.
Her accomplishments include opening for Crime Mob in Atlanta of 2009, The Cool Kids and Khia, Plus performing with Calico Jones, the S.O.D Money Gang Entertainment Team, Three Six Mafia's Lil Wyte and Jellyroll.
In October 2011 Rook recorded a demo with Young Money credited songwriter and Creative Director, Evan Roberts (ASCAP).
Rook Roca released several cd's in 2011 which sprung the classic underground hip hop hits, "Drummer Girl", "How I Ride", "The Wrestler", "Beat Goes Hard" and "Krump n Chasse". Follow up by the hypnotiq smoove groove, "Bottles in The Back" and first itune cut "City Lights"
”The great mobility of the ROOK forms one of the chief characteristics of all endgame strategy… In the middlegame the ROOK is a mere 'super', in the endgame on the other hand - on of the 'principals'. We must therefore develop her, bring her nearer to the fighting line.”

ROOK ROCA stands alone, unsigned. A female MC from Toledo, OH. She has found a passion for rythym, rhyme scheme, and cadence pattern. Rook Roca is the future of house music. She is prepared for the challenging barriers that will soon face her within this game of truth and success. "Fall down two times, stand up three". She has work with many talented artists in the country, but has written all her own lyrics since day one. The sky is the limit for Rook Roca and one day she will sit with the stars!
Thank you to all who have been following her journey and allowing her to build from their artistic creations.
