About Band
Whuts down wit it, my name is Oswaldo Contreras, I was born in Oceanside, CA on September 9, 1988. Im a rapper/producer for my own company called Southern Side Records. I started creating music when I was 8, messing around with a YAMAHA PSR-6 (my first keyboard). Before that I used to always go to the back of a Cantina (bar) to listen to the bands that played there, since there was a window where I could see the band perfectly, especially the DJ and Keyboard player, I always wondered how they could maneuver their fingers so fast on the keyboard and what they did to make all those instruments create a song. I remember going to my house everyday trying to immitate the keyboard guy on the way he was hitting the key's and sometimes I would do it just right that it would sound almost like the song they where playing. When I turned 12 I joined a Mariachi Band playing the trumpet, where I learned to read music and found out that I could actually sing. Once I got into High School is when all of my interest in music headed towards production of music. I found that composing a song was not just about knowing one instrument, its about knowing all the instruments and how they harmonize. (thanks to Mr. Ballard for teching me that) While I was in High School I ran into someone that liked music as much as me, his name is Fransisco Martinez aka Royal 1, and had told me about this program called FL Studio. So I went and got me a copy of that program, learned how to use it and started composing beats. I'd say it was about a month after he had told me that we started chillin' and making music together. We started a group called Royal Mindz, thats when I started getting interested in recording vocals for my beats I was making, so I signed up for a class on "Music Engineering" in a local community college. There I learned how to and what I needed to record and compose music, now knowing that I had bought myself a little set-up that I have till now, which I still use today to record. Well now you know how I started in my music, anything else yall want to know come and drop me a line or two, dun be shy ask me anything I'll be sure to reply. Aight then Im out.
