Antwoine "Sho-Illa" Tyler was born in 1981 on the grimy westside streets of Chicago better known as the "Windy City". Ironically it wasn’t until he saw a video from the rock group Twisted Sister on MTV that he decided he wanted to be an entertainer. At just the age of 8 he began battle rapping around his neighborhood honing his skills. Even in middle school he was in several rap groups but always stood out amongst his peers. Growing up in a bad environment, Sho-Illa eventually gave into the pressures of street life, Seeing an easy way to make money he started hustling and doing things that he now speaks of in his lyrics. Not as to encourage violence or drugs he found a way to incorporate the streets with his music giving you the style he cleverly calls "NEUchi" which is also the name of his clique. In 1999 he met Percy Powell of Powell Records and together they have dropped 5 classic mix tapes and one critically acclaimed album titled NEUchi throughout Chicago land and other regions around the US gaining him a wide fan base and most importantly respect as an artist. Illa has also done more shows then your typical underground rap artist opening up for Memphis Bleek at The Atrium in Atlanta, Ga and Cash Money in Peoria to name a few. Fast forward to 2008 and you now have one of the hottest artist in Chicago being self proclaimed as "King of the chi" dropping mix tape after mix tape of his Come see about me Vol. series, Which is catching the attention of A&R and label heads. Whether it be his witty punch lines, soulful feel, or his ability to paint a picture for his audience Sho-illa is defiantly one to watch out for.
