SLEDD came out of the edgy San Diego Alternative Rock scene of the 1990’s. The band was formed in 1995 by New York based brothers Peter and Dino DeLuke & vocalist Cary Rothman.
The group hit the streets of San Diego and quickly became a successful original rock act, providing regional support for many national acts including Blue Oyster Cult, Great White, Quiet Riot, The Vince Neil Band, LA Guns, Slaughter, Dokken, Warrant & Joan Jett. After traveling throughout Southern California playing the West Coast rock circuit for several years, the band headed into the studio in 1999 to record their self-produced first album “Dopamine”. Dopamine enjoyed some local success around Southern California , and was marketed & distributed directly by the group.
In 2001, the band sought out a few friends in Al Pitrelli (Megadeth/Blue Oyster Cult) and Mark Kendall (Great White) to produce their next album, which was recorded at Sound Asylum in North Hollywood & Paramount Studios in Los Angeles . The project slated to become Sledd’s second album ”Crooked Smiles”(unreleased) was being produced by Pitrelli & Kendall but work was interrupted by an incident on the Great White tour in Providence, RI, and the material was never released. Kendall also managed the Band from 2001 - 2003.
In 2002 Sledd provided direct support on the Bullet Boys Pacific Northwest tour with Gilby Clark.
In April/May 2009, Sledd members along with Executive Producer and Tesla bassist Brian Wheat recorded a four song EP at J Street Studios in Sacramento, CA . All four cuts later appeared on the band’s self-produced third album, “Insane Laughter”, and Sledd joined Tesla’s 2009 North American tour as direct support. The Tour was a success and opened the door to new opportunities and a growing fan base across the . “Insane Laughter” has received National Airplay in several United States Cities and .
Sledd returned to working on new material and showcasing back in San Diego , with direct support appearances with Queensryche, Ratt, UFO, Skid Row, Cinderella, Kill Devil Hill, Jackyl, Michael Schenker, Filter and Y&T. The group continues to draw record crowds and is fast developing a reputation as a contender in the San Diego Rock market.
