About Band

Social Chaos –

Chesapeake Va.

Started after the demise of Liquid Dragon with founding members Eric Gedick and Harry Shaffer decided to approach Denise Gedick and have her sing for the band. The three quickly started working together and soon they were writing songs. But they needed another guitarist and drummer. They asked Juan Lagos (Skeeter) to play drums for them (the old drummer from Liquid Dragon) And Chris Jacobsen (the Lead guitarist from Liquid Dragon) Humm, it was almost a Liquid Dragon reunion but it would only last for one party and they went on their separate ways, end 2003!.

So Eric, Denise and Harry put up flyers for a lead guitarist and drummer.

Eric was talking at work and spoke to Eric Grau and he said "I play drums" he came over and auditioned, Eric, Denise and Harry liked what he did and were like wow, cool a drummer. But still no lead guitarist! A week later , again at work Grau was talking to Jay Lorenzen and he said "I play lead guitar" again, Grau said come over and try out! He did and Social Chaos actually had a full practice.

This was the first original line up of the band.

Harry Shaffer – Bass Guitar

Jay Lorenzen – Lead Guitar

Eric Grau – Drums

The band played two shows together and a party and then Jay got orders to Washington D.C. Again the flyers went up! God, how we love flyers! Two weeks went by and nothing. Then entered Erik Leach. He blew us away. You couldn't believe the stuff this kid could play. It was amazing. The band started to take on a new momentum; we started learning more songs and actually writing more. "The Dragon Song" "Inside the Darkness" "Dudley Road" "Straight 2 Hell" was starting to take form and the band was starting to play lots of gigs. But this would again not be without its own problem.

We were now playing gigs, lots of gigs but Eric 2 (Grau) was not making practice and having problems in his life with school and other issues and he was going to transfer to Florida. So the flyers went up again! Did I mention we loved flyers? About 3 weeks later Brian Gumphries calls and wants try out on like a Thursday night? And he said " I read your flyer and I can play all Iron Maiden stuff!" I called everyone and said "Let's see if he's as good as he says!" We got together that night and auditioned him. We 'Maid' him play "Hallowed be thy name" which is kind of one of our signature songs in the band and he actually nailed it. I have to say we were impressed! (Kudos to Brian)

After many, gigs and nights and days of recording we put our stuff on myspace! The band actually seemed to be solid, or so you'd think! But, just like every band there is a breaking point and Harry decided that 80's rock wasn't what he really wanted to do and he wanted to play harder stuff. His other band Evil Means was playing all original stuff and they were good! He had also picked up another project Gotharilla which was more of Harry's style then the music we were playing. "Harry I can admit that now!" So if you've been reading this and you've gone this far into it you'll know what I'm about to say. Yes, more flyers, but wait there more… there was tension in the band because we were letting Brian go, he went on to join (Gotharilla). So now not only did we need a flyer for a bassist but a drummer as well.

Well the flyers went up Again! Eric was at work again, 'seems that Eric keeps finding people at work?' got an email for Jack Sparagna and he came over for and audition and brought a drummer with him! The Drummer was Bob Dias. They auditioned and they were both great! Wonderful musicians! So lets recap… Email, audition, 2 musicians? Wow!

Can kid figure out what might happen next?

Okay, well I'll tell you! Jack has a bad back and has to go to NJ to have it operated on and have something done to fix it. So he's out having surgery OUCH! We ask Harry to fill in the gigs that we have lined up since he knows the material and he has no problem doing it. (Thanks Harry)

We play a show with the current line up and to say the least it was our poorest attendance EVER!!! But that's beside the point, it was an outside event and it doesn't matter, we played. Here comes a shocker, Erik Leach decides he's leaving the band.

Shocked? We were! Yeah he took all his gear at the end of the show and well just left! Humm didn't see that coming did yeah? Okay! In his defense he was having some issue in he's personal life and he has to work them out. So kids let play along now shall we? What happens here?

INSERT COMMENT HERE! __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __! If you said "Put up flyers you are Correct!

Well actually I just made a phone call! We had 2 gigs lined up to play in 5 nights away and the only person that I could figure that could learn all the material in that time and knew most of the material already was and old friend and old band mate Chris Jacobsen.

Chris had to talk it over with his wife "as you should" and they came over and checked out the band. They liked everything and he knew most of the songs already. We worked out some differences in the songs and now we are working on a new set list. Enter Chris Jacobsen.

Alas, we are still looking for a bassist to fill in for the missing Jack! We can't really play any shows until we get a bassist. This is all well and good. We have a lot of talent, just need on person to fill it out.
