About Band
Since November 1998, SONNY RED has chosen a Fusion Metal Style, with Jean-Laurent Ysem (Vocals), Julien Tiberi (Drums), Thomas Tibéri (Guitars) and Maxime Segovia (bass guitar).
The band quickly aimed at reaching the stage and participating in many contests and gigs in Marseille. A first track, Headache is quickly recorded, wins a price in a contest, and is sent To Paris. It is given such a warm welcome that a national magazine reviews it (Hard Force). The band knows a few line-ups changes with the arrival of Thomas Hispa on drums.
The style evolves to Hardcore, elaborating in parallel a rhythmic approach more studied and influenced by bands such as Meshuggah or Nostromo with the dynamics of such great bands as TOOL . SONNY RED plays concerts during the year before the departure of its singer and its drummer, who left for musical differences. Six months later Pierre Marie Orsini forms part of the band, replacing the former drummer.
The band develops its capacities between technicity and efficiency, with full growth and various styles introducing Power Metal and Progressive Metal influences.
Christophe Abadjian (vocals) joins the band one year later with his colorful voice with Power Metal and Hardcore vocals, a saturated tone of voice reminding people of the first periods of Killswitch Engage and Tool.
The band re-appears on stage in 2005. After a few dates, Several Bleeds records offers the members the opportunity to record two albums and play on first part of THE HAUNTED / GOD FORBID in Marseille.
SONNY RED begins to record its first album and decides to produce itself entirely. At the same time, the drummer leaves the band and Frédéric Formosa joins SONNY RED. After 4 months of hard work, Extend Of soul is released in May 2006 under the french label SEVERAL BLEEDS RECORDS.
SONNY RED has shared the stage of HELLFEST, on the largest metal festival in Europe, with such greats as Korn, Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Artryeu, Trivium, Diecast, Motorhead, Apocalyptica, Opeth, Cradle of Filth and the best is yet to come...
After several years as a 4 piece band, SONNY RED is proud to announce that a second guitar player is now ready to hit the stage and next studio projects !! Welcome to Jerome "Zed" ( Ex-E-Force - VOIVOD Ex-Singer / Bassist . )
