World-renowned drummer Jeremy “Bean” Clemons has been making a solid name for himself on the NYC music scene playing with artists such as Andy Bey, DJ Carl Craig, Grady Tate, The Real Live Show, Myoshi and Res. He has co-led a critically acclaimed jazz ensemble with saxophonist Stacy Dillard called cPhyve and also played in Miscellaneous Flux. Most recently, Clemons has been rapidly developing as an original and in-demand producer. His most recent project, Soul Understated, seems to be his most promising and accessible. Fusing all the flavors of music that Clemons has been immersed in during his rise as a drummer, Understated displays impeccable groove, musical virtuosity, and exciting lyrical character and content. “The passion and drive of our music comes from a sincere longing to encourage and inspire people from all lifestyles, while maintaining the danceable element and groove. “ Somewhat of a dream band for Clemons, Understated features a diverse and eclectic mix of musical forces. Vocalist/lyricist Mavis “Swan” Poole has been working with Clemons since the beginning of 2007, and has clearly become his writing and production partner. Swan has already furnished numerous of Clemons’ unrivaled tracks in a very short amount of time. Hand picked from various previous projects, Clemons has chose saxophonist Stacy Dillard, bassist Ameen Saleem and Josh David, pianist Corey James and Ryan Weaver, and guitarist Ben Tyree as comrades in arms. All being world class musicians gaining fast reputations in New York City music circles, this particular lineup has created a powerhouse unit that will undoubtedly do the music justice in live settings.
