About Band

Through the power of music, SouthDub has created an unparallel connection with their fans around the United States.  They have entertained, enlightened, uplifted many of their peers and proven to be very independent. SouthDub being no stranger to danger has endured many obstacles throughout their childhood and adolescent years. Both members losing their older brother to gang violence, their father killed after taking a bullet to the head and member Docious almost losing his life as a kid.  One would expect them to be a product of their environment; instead SouthDub members Smash & Docious stayed ambitious and developed an “Unstoppable” mentality.

Smash born April 18, 1986 & Docious Feb 18, 1988 in the big city of Los Angeles, and raised in Oceanside, Ca, they both seen and experienced what a lot of rappers talk about.  Introduced to music at a tender age, Smash & Docious, began to show appreciation for hip hop after hearing Tupac’s “Dear Mama” in 1995.  Later that year they would create their own rap group by the name of “Basic Image” at the ages of 9 & 7 and began their journey to fame.

Although Smash & Docious, were both born in California they openly discuss the history of their name which came from living on the Southwest side of Oklahoma City after leaving California in 1997.  Little did they know what this Southern state had stored for them. Here is where they would experience some life changing experiences but still keep their passion for music. Shorlty after their brothers death, Docious up in left Oklahoma City and headed back to California while Smash stayed and developed a musical relationship with close friend Keeng James.  It was in 2002 when Smash called his brother Docious and asked him to return so they continue working towards their dream. With no hesitation Docious flew back to Oklahoma city to be reuinted with his brother.

Shortly after Brandons return the group tribe surfaced and Keeng James produced their first song. It was their passion for music at an early age that kept them writing and fighting to be the best lyrically and in 2004, Smash & Docious dropped the name Tribe and SouthDub became their name. Over the next 3 years SouthDub would continue writing and freestyling deticated to mastering their styles and at the same time developing a deeper passion for what they were doing. Unhappy with their progress they decided to pursue their music career full time and thought they’d have a better opportunity going back home to California. So in 2007 they headed back to Oceanside with dreams of making it big.

Within 3 months of their return, SouthDub had reunited with family and friends and was ready to take control of their destiny.  Their family was impressed with the progress they’ve made lyrically so their older sister  lead them to Angel Sicc, who at the time was being managed by Troy “SOR” Hall, Founder of Coastline Ent.  Angel Sicc made one phone call to SOR and Smash, with no hesitation spit a raw 16. SOR immediately welcomed them into the family, got them in the studio and began managing their professional careers. Things started to take off for the better!  In matters of months they were working on a Mix tape, Their Debut album and promoting new liquor called “RHYTHM”.

Things seem to take a crazy path when in the middle of working on their album Smash had to made a personal decision to move back to Oklahoma City and be closer to his kids. This put the album on hold and left their manager confused on what to do. Two months later their manager would lose his job and make the decision to join Smash in Oklahoma city, bring Brandon with him and pursue music fulltime. The album was back in production and Sep 24th 2008 they released their first Cd "Every song Could Be a Single'!. The completion of the CD would lead them to Atlanta where the real journey began!
