About Band
"Strings Of Fire are like metal on prozac"
And since their first gig in August of 2004, that same energy has never left the four young metallers from Essex. They hail from Havering, south-east London and have played in many places around the area, including Upstairs & Downstairs at The Garage, Grays Civic Hall, The Twist The Cauliflower and have sold out MusicTek in Dagenham multiple times.
Strings of Fire, or S.O.F. are a four piece band, comprising of 20 year old lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Sherriff, whose raw vocals have developed to such a style that lets him hit the highest of notes, whilst still maintaining true power and aggression. Along with Jack, the songs are predominantly written and composed by lead guitarist Andy Feehan, also 20. His varied influences in music are the main drive behind the eclectic mix of sounds heard in S.O.F.'s songs. On bass guitar is Andy 'Ducky' Graves, whose funk orientated rhythms and melodies add a vibe rarely heard in a genre like this. Behind the kit is James Foale, utilising new-school double bass mixed with the catchy rock beats of old, and adding colour to the songs with vocal harmonies and electronics.
The band have spent the best part of two years trying to define a sound that suits them most, and are all comfortable in producing. After a short break in the summer of '06, they re-grouped with new fire and understanding and the music just kept on coming. Settling on a rock-based feel with the odd bit of metal chucked in, S.O.F. create an energetic wall of catchy tunes that whilst easy to bang your head to, allow the audience to sing along at the top of their lungs to inspiring chorus' and quick verses. Taking influence from such legendary bands as Iron Maiden and Metallica, they are set on creating a new sound, but try to maintain the fundamental features that made the said bands so popular.
In April 2006 the band recorded their E.P. 'Alive at Last', featuring songs such as 'Blood is the Sweetest Revenge', 'Bruised and Broken' and S.O.F.'s first independently released single, 'Exhale', is now available on iTunes.
Strings of Fire are looking to roll into 2007 with the same creativity, fire and energetic live show as the previous year, and the future will hopefully hold good things. The year already has treated them well being put onto the Back To Business album "Get A Grip" out in may, about to record their own new E.P "Another Day Begins" and have been asked to play the 15,000 people capacity Dagenham Festival.
