When Chrismari and Cornel started this band in 2007, they never thought that they would release an album and go on tour with a brilliant band.
SWEID is a seven piece contemporary Jazz band and has performed successfully at various events. Their repertoire consists of various styles that include Jazz, Blues, Country, Pop etc. They perform covers and have four original tracks that have been recorded on their debut album titled “Ordinary People”.
This unique Free State band is proud to have such multi-talented artists and has a bright future ahead of them.

ABOUT THE BAND:
SWEID is a local contemporary band that consists of six musicians:
- Two vocalists
- Drummer
- Bassist
- Two Guitarists: acoustic and electric
- Pianist/Keyboardist
We perform at all corporate events, private functions, festivals and as entertainment at exclusive establishments.

BAND MEMBERS:
- CORNEL VAN ZYL (VOCALIST)
She studied Performing Arts (dance, music and drama) at Tom Arts Training College in Pretoria and performed as vocalist in various bands. She is currently working as a hair stylist and manages the company, SWEID Entertainment.
- JACO DE WET
BMus in Classical Percussion. Full-time drummer and bassist and runs his own Drum and Bass School, EDUDrums.co.za. He composes and orchestrates music for various genres and also manages SWEID Entertainment.
- CHRISMARI LE ROUX (VOCALIST)
She was a member of the well-known vocal Jazz group “Brilliant Cut”. She was also a member of the provincial group “Free State Singers” conducted by Danie Hyman. She is a qualified beauty therapist and is currently working as a sales representative.
- BELINDA VAN ZWIJNDRECHT
A full-time visual artist, guitarist, songwriter and performer. She is a part-time music and art teacher and further more an assistant project manager for community project: “Artists in Schools” at UFS.
- WAYNE LOUW
A Session pianist and keyboardist for various productions and studio work.
- MAARTEN VAN VUUREN
Full-time musician who has played for popular bands such as Eenakskind. He also studied and functions as part-time graphic designer.
- ANGELO MOCKIE
A full-time drama Hounors-student at UFS and since 2007 involved in various productions at the Volksblad Arts Festival, working as choreographer, play writer and director.
