About Artist
"After one listen - you'll feel as if she wrote something just for you." -Michele Doctoroff
Sydney Switzer is a 14 year old performer, who has been playing both original and cover songs on her acoustic Tanglewood, Ginevra for nine years. She plays many genres of music, and she is energetic and excited. Her passion and sophistication have lead her to perform for the celebrity judges Suzie McNeil, Christopher Ward, and Steve Cranwell of YTV’s Next Star, as well as becoming the ‘Calgary favourite’ of show host Adamo Ruggiero, and dazzling the crowds at Calgary’s Farmer Market. Her warm heart has entertained donors at the Tim Horton’s Send a Kid to Camp Day, and encouraged students at their Saturday School. This upcoming singer/songstress/guitarist has been inspired by two summers of study with Rachaelle Van Zanten, Aurora Jane, Monica Jenkins, Anne Schaeffer, Celene Yohemas, Shannon Boyle, Chantal Vitalis, and Lyndell Montgomery. After coming in second to the older boys at her school’s Loud Lunch competition sponsored by Axe Music and X92.9 FM, she is determined to be the winner next year! Sydney has an amazing talent for writing her own songs that reflect not only the experiences of her life, but also what she has only heard of but not experienced personally. She also does excellent cover versions where she takes the original song and changes it enough to make it her own - her version can have a totally different feel and mood and pace then the original. She also does very good acoustic versions of electric songs that sound great. After one listen to her slightly mysterious vocals you’ll feel that she wrote something especially for you, and before you know it you’ll be humming her tunes! If you are real lucky you may catch her jamming on a BC ferry, or by a campfire deep in a forest. And if you are even more lucky, she may give you one of her amazing uniquely handcrafted friendship bracelets, or you may be invited to her bellydancing recital. She plays and sings with confidence and maturity well beyond her youth. She sings with emotion and heart and feeling, not just going through the motions. She has a need to suceed, and will in the right time. It's like a whole new musical experience.
