The Becalmed is a new band, and are exploring Ambient music, and musical ideas. Based in London,  The Becalmed creative process can take various ideas and develop them. The Becalmed want to go beyond current accepted musical forms and explore afresh, with no conscious preconceived ideas.

 

The creation of The Becalmed, was to provide an outlet for Music, Photography and Art. The website www.thebecalmed.com is working on the web and visitors can demo all the tracks in full. They can also download any of the pictures or MP3 music for a small fee, for their own personal use. Most of the music of The Becalmed is relaxing, and soothing, or may tell of a story or create feelings or ideas that are explored.  You should find that a listen to the music (with headphones for best results), should take you to another place and time, and bring you back refreshed. However you don’t have to listen intently to it, as it works as a relaxing background while you are working....

Influences are many and varied from Genesis, The Doors, Santana, Camel to name jus a few,  not forgetting the master of Ambient music, Brian Eno.

 

Having played in various bands in the past, from Rock, Jazz Rock and Blues bands to Reggae, it was felt a new direction was needed to explore music afresh, and  The Becalmed was the result.
