Indie music is hard to come by in a country dominated by heavy rock bands. The annual Finnish winter depression and high suicide rate seems to set the mood for an extremely dark music scene. But things change...
Tom, Tomi and Tuomas T formed the band in early 2007, but the months of searching for a bassist and lead guitarist drew barely a whisper from Helsinki's Indie community. Finally, in February 2008, Tuomas Paavola and Joonas Laitio joined the band - The Blonde Brunettes were born.
Three fifths of the band played The Blonde Brunettes' first gig at a student union jam session in Helsinki. This was followed two days later by their first "public" performance at Kuudes Linja, Helsinki as a support act to Eleanoora Rosenholm.
Early excitement suggests that The Blonde Brunettes could be one of the freshest bands to come out of Helsinki in a long time. Needless to say, let the music speak for itself and watch this space!
