About Artist
I am an audio production/performance artist currently based out of Los Angeles. My appreciation for music started at a very early age. Eventually, my parents purchased me my first electric guitar. I spent a great deal of time figuring out how to pull out interesting sounds out of the guitar by scratching the strings and playing with my effects box (not so much actually playing the guitar in a traditional sense, really). Playing in countless punk/hardcore bands quickly made me realize that my ambition was much greater than it was for most of my bandmates. Delving into music production was a natural progression for me -- it allowed me to have full, undisputed creative control of my music.
My first foray into sequencing involved sequencing my own drum-patterns so I could play guitar and bass over them to create songs. Gradually, I became more and more fascinated by the power of computers in generating new sonic textures. My education drew me more toward new media arts, where I further explored sonic possiblities and means of integrating new media.
As a performance artist I am largely motivated by improvisational techniques. To me, music that doesn't change depending on its contextual environment is dead, boring, and entirely misses the notion of "performance". Working in a largely electronic-based audio realm, it has been a challenge to bridge this gap. Nonetheless, it is also one of the most rewarding experiences when it all comes together...
