About Band

Born and raised in Seymour, Indiana. Michael took an interest in music when he was in the 6th grade at Redding Elementary School. He started singing in choir and was tested for band in which he landed a position in the trumpet section of the Junior High School band.

Then the Beatles came out and Michael wanted to jump aboard the band wagon so he got his first of many guitars. At 14 he joined forces with neighbors and started his first band "The Christopher's" playing Beatles songs. The drummer played on tin cans and the band had to share guitars. After a short evolvement he started with a group called "The Electron's" They played radio covers popular at that time. The venues were local sock hops, after school dances, political functions, and charity work. (click on the tab Other Groups and scroll down to the newspaper article Electrons that's 15 yr old Michael playing his guitar next to the banner). New groups were emerging and more instrumentation were being added. The guitar players of the Electron's got together and flipped a coin to see who is going to be a keyboardist. Odd man buys a keyboard, Michael was the odd man thus his keyboard career began. Then came  along the "Mother's Blues" playing the same kind of venue. In a very short time the band became"The Crape Soul" in which started his move to take music one step further. Michael played organ and trumpet at the same time. Crape Soul won competitions, played shows, dances, and concerts all over Southern Indiana. Who knew 35 years later Crape Soul would reunite (check out the Crape Soul Tab.

After Graduation he left Seymour to pursue his ambition to become a full time musician. He went to Columbus and got with a group called "Utopia" which was a progressive rock band. This project last a couple of years. Michael hit the road from there. Making music full time and traveling across the States. Talent agents kept Michael busy for the next 25 years playing night clubs to concerts.

Michael retired from the road in 1992 but never gave up the love he has for music. He opened up for Larry Crane, Daryl Singleterry, John Michael Montgomery, and his band "Southern Justice" came in 3rd out of an eight state Battle of the Bands (check out Michael on the Jumbotron). From there he went with Long Shot Band.
Now his focus is the 4 piece group "HEADLINER". You have to see this group. They are fantastic check out the HEADLINER TAB!!

I hope you enjoy this site as much as you enjoy listening to the talents of Michael S Henderson
