The Last Straw is rock and roll for the soul. A unified balance of rock, blues, funk and soul with a dynamic and powerful presence.

Drawing influences from their southern roots, these five men have worked together to feed their audiences with a sound this generation has been hungry for. Since forming in February of 2007, The Last Straw has already proven themselves as one of the most highly recognized bands in Middle Tennessee. They have played sold out shows at popular venues in Murfreesboro, Nashville, Kentucky, and Alabama. 2008 started with the band opening for 102.9 The Buzz’s annual rock awards show The Buzzy’s. Kyle Daniel and Quincy Meeks won best guitar duo and Adam Botner won best keyboardist in Nashville as voted on by 102.9’s listeners. The Last Straw was also selected to perform at this years Red Gorilla Music festival in Austin, TX.

Although the band has only been together a short time, they have already worked with such notable people in the music industry as Anthony Krizan of The Spin Doctors and Greg Hamm, lengendary engineer of several artists such as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their most recent work with Hamm allowed them to capture their dynamic energy in a live recording in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Each member of The Last Straw has had their own success in the music industry, furthering their notoriety as a whole. Drummer, songwriter, and producer, John Salaway, performed with Ben Folds in his Live at Myspace concert and is a nationally endorsed session musician and producer around Nashville, TN. Guitarist, lead singer, and songwriter, Kyle Daniel, won the Southern Kentucky Blues Challenge in 2004 and went on the next year to place as a finalist in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. He and John are currently co-writing with hit songwriters in the Nashville area, while completing the writing of The Last Straw’s debut album set for release in early 2008. Keyboardist, Adam Botner, has also performed with members of The Allman Brothers Band and has had success touring with other bands in the Southeast region. Slide guitarist/harp player, Quincey Meeks, has toured extensivley around the Southeast, playing with several bands over the years. Bassist, Marc Williams, spent several years touring around the central coast of CA while serving in the US Air Force. Upon returning from service he decided to come back home where he’s played and toured with several projects and done some select studio work.

The Band, with Def Kat Music LLC has also recently created the Silas Rock Botner Memorial Scholarship which goes to eligible MTSU students who pursue recording industry and commercial songwriting as a major to help inspire the songwriting community in middle Tennessee.

By seeing what the band has already accomplished in such a short time, we are surely to see only great things from them in the future.
