About Band

Tipping & Cargill were a popular British vocal harmony duo during the eighties.

Gary Tipping and Dave Cargill met in January 1979 and performed at Folk clubs in Portsmouth, England UK.  They formed a soft rock band called Skyline Drive along with guitarist Phil Parkinson and drummer Ken Allen, and toured the music venues along the south coast of England, UK.

After some changes in band members, Skyline Drive was eventually disbanded in 1982 and Gary and Dave returned to being a duo.  For the next 7 years Tipping & Cargill went on to perform an average of 300 shows a year, produced 3 albums which sold several thousand copies and established themselves as one of the best vocal harmony acts on the music club circuit.

In 1989 Tipping & Cargill split up to pursue solo projects.  Gary Tipping has remained in the music business, continuing to tour, write and produce albums, and has written over 200 songs in varied styles with many of his songs being played on radio stations all over the world.  Dave Cargill retired from the music business to pursue a lifelong ambition to become an author and now lives in a converted church in The Highlands of Scotland.

In 1998 Tipping & Cargill reunited for a series of shows and produced what would be their final album together.  'The Season' album is a collection of 10 acoustic songs which highlight Gary's ability to write songs which show off the duo's smooth vocal harmony arrangements.
