Tyler T. is a performing and recording artist based in Lubbock, Texas. For the past few years Tyler T. has been touring, playing locally, writing and recording original material. The music is described as a Psychedelic tribal folk mixed with electronica and dance grooves. On stage and in the studio, Tyler T. uses a vast variety of different instruments including: Six string and eleven stringed guitars, a baritone guitar, didjeridoos, electric virtual drum pads, keyboard/synthesizer and many other small rythmic music makers (such as shakers, triangles and whistles). On stage, Tyler T. uses looping and phrase sampling devices capable of creating a whole sonic spectrum of multi instrument grooves on the spot. While most of the songs contain lyrics and concepts of different subject matters, the music boasts a strong improvisational spirit on the eclectic side. Any given live performance is to be enjoyed visually just as much as musically. The studio material does differ from the live music in few ways. Tyler T. records with many different local musicians chasing the magical musical moments brought on by creative collaboration as well as many recording projects done completely solo. The influence of this original breed of sounds come from listening to the percussive instumental guitarist such as Michael Hedges, Andy Mckee, Kaki King and psychedelic rock bands such as the Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa. Many more modern sounds have influenced the music such as new wave electronica and progressive rock and funk. Blending these influences has yielded a sound with an earthy, organic type of feel with trancy and experimental overtones original to Tyler T.
