About Band
Biography
Voodoo Jack are a three piece blues rock band based in Dublin. Consisting of Keenan Cassidy (vocals & lead guitar), John Byrne (bass), and Ciaran Daly (drums), the band have been together for 5/6 years, and have played extensively throughout Meath, Louth, Westmeath, and moreso, Dublin city.
The bands' formation can be traced back to Navan, Co Meath several years ago, when it became evident that the local music scene was missing something vital, something genuinely unique. Ciaran had been playing drums since age 7, and had gained a lot of respect and recognition for his talent, even at a young age. On the other hand, Keenan picked up guitar at a later age, but through his remarkable sense of drive for perfection, developed his own unique style, and progressed at his instrument at a remarkable pace. Ciaran and Keenan teamed up with lots of local musicians to play gigs, and started writing killer songs from the start. However, trouble reared its ugly head; the band lacked a like-minded, dedicated bassist. At roughly this time, local bass phenomenon John was getting frustrated, he was wasting his time playing in go nowhere cover bands, and was looking for something bigger and better. Ciaran and Keenan had heard about Johns' bass playing, and immediately set out to recruit him for Voodoo Jack. The rest is rock history.
As a fully functional, and operational whole, the band hit the Dublin scene in 2004 to much applaud, and developed a strong following. The sound was tight, full, and fresh. No band around sounded like Voodoo Jack. With Keenans' distinctive guitar tone, and instantly recognisable bluesy vocals, Johns' fretless bass prowess, and Ciarans' skilful jazz inspired drumming, the band truly have something rare, something that only comes around every so often.
With all brand new material for 2007, and an euphoric, youthful sense of adventure, Voodoo Jack are destined to lead a new musical revolution. Watch this space.
