About Band

Wicker Bones began in 2009 when five people with a mutual love
of Irish music came together to learn a few songs and possibly play some
gigs. They have since gone from strength to strength developing as
artists, performing at festivals in Ireland and abroad and releasing two
EPs, The Martry Sessions (October 2011) and Concatenation (August
2012).

Wicker Bones’ musical expression is found in the juxtaposition of
disparate ideas. A reverence of tradition is contrasted with the utilization
of contemporary compositional techniques. Moments of great lyrical
beauty are found beside crunching dissonances. It is this unity between
contrasting expressions that creates the unique sound that Wicker Bones
are constantly trying to explore and refine.

Wicker Bones have been in demand as a live act in Ireland, the UK,
Germany, the Netherlands and China where they represented Ireland at
the World Culture Festival in Louyang. They have been asked to headline
at a number of major venues in their hometown, Dublin, including
Whelans’ and Academy II. Wicker Bones also completed their first tour in
Wales in July 2012, a tour that culminated with their sell-out performance
at the Folk on the Lawn festival, Tintern. They have also performed at
nearly every major festival in Ireland including Electric Picnic,
Knockanstockan and Spirit of Folk.

Concatenation, Wicker Bones’ latest EP is a six track miniature concept
album that has received great response from live audiences and hopefully
now from the music buying public. It represents our strongest expression
of the musical material closest to our heart and also aims to broaden the
scope of what a traditional band, where three out of five members cannot
read music, can do. Concatenation was recorded and mixed by the
wonderful Conor Brady of Phonic Studios, Dublin.

Wicker Bones plans for next year include a full length concept album in
early to mid 2013, another foreign tour in an as yet to be announced
country and a video for their song Red Iron Ore.
